ConCourt To Rule On CR17 Campaign

The Constitutional Court is set to hand down its judgment relating to President Cyril Ramaphosa’s CR17 campaign tomorrow.

The court will decide whether Ramaphosa had deliberately misled Parliament about donations made to the CR17 campaign, as well as whether Public Protector Busisiwe Mkhwebane was within her scope to probe the president’s election campaign.

Mkhwebane’s report found that the president purposefully misled Parliament over donations made to the CR17 campaign. However, in March, a full Bench of the High Court ruled that the Public Protector’s findings contained material errors in law.
