Aid comes to hundreds of Rawsonville affected by floods

Flooding has affected more than 1200 residents in the Western Cape town of Rawsonville.

According to aid organisation, Gift of the Givers some 300 structures were severely damaged in the Spookie Town informal settlement when the nearby riverbank burst.

The residents are being housed in a local church.

Logistic arrangements are said to have been made for the delivery of aid relief. The operation is expected to get underway later this morning.

Since last week Cape Town, and the West Coast District as well as other parts of the province have been lashed by strong winds and heavy rains. The adverse weather has caused localised flooding in a number of areas.
