As we mark Africa Day, how much has the continent achieved since it first established the continental body, the Organisation of African Unity in 1963?

Sudan, Libya and other nations continue to experience conflict, mostly influenced by outside powers, while China and the United States jostle for influence both over resources and military presence on the continent.

Is the African Union fuliflling its mandate or failing the continent?
