A 42-year-old is Arrested in Relation to Med-Lemon Laboratory in Rondebosch

The Hawks’ South African Narcotics Enforcement Bureau has launched an investigation after uncovering an alleged clandestine laboratory in Rondebosch.

The operation led to the arrest of a 42-year-old man who has been charged with contravening the Medicines Control Act. The suspect was arrested during an intelligence-driven operation conducted on Thursday.

The raid was carried out by the Hawks’ SANEB team together with the SAPS Flying Squad. Authorities say the operation led to the discovery of a clandestine laboratory allegedly used for the illegal manufacture of products. Investigators found machinery believed to have been used to manufacture Med-Lemon.

Boxes containing Med-Lemon sachets were also seized during the operation. The laboratory was dismantled by law enforcement officials.

The exact value of the seized Med-Lemon products has not yet been determined. Police have not disclosed the quantity of products confiscated.

The suspect is expected to make his first court appearance in the Wynberg Magistrate’s Court on Monday.
