Ramaphosa Fires Social Development Minister

President Cyril Ramaphosa has removed Social Development Minister Sisisi Tolashe. She has been plagued by controversy in recent months.

The issues include donations of vehicles to the ANC Women’s League, which were reportedly registered under her children’s names. These assets were also not declared to Parliament.

There was also concern about dodgy appointments in her personal office, and the alleged misuse of State-paid personnel employed to work in her official presence.

In the interim, President Ramaphosa has appointed Minister in the Presidency for Women, Youth and Persons with Disabilities Sindisiwe Chikunga as the acting minister in the portfolio pending a full-time appointment.
