Members of Worcester police responding to reports of gunfire in the Roodewal area on Saturday, have arrested a suspect for being in the possession of a homemade firearm.

Community members pointed officers to a suspect who was fleeing the scene. Police gave chase as the suspect discarded a firearm into a nearby informal dwelling. They recovered the homemade firearm and apprehended the suspect.

In a separate incident, Ceres police acted on information about armed suspects in Nduli. Officers searched Masikhule Street after receiving descriptions of the suspects. Two suspects matching the description were apprehended.

A homemade firearm and ammunition were found in their possession.

Once charged, the suspects are expected to appear in the Worcester and Ceres Magistrates’ Courts.
