WATCH: Couple rescued amidst heavy rains in Pinelands

A man and woman were rescued in Pinelands after being trapped in a canal void as water levels rose rapidly.
They were treated for hypothermia, and transported to hospital.
Firefighters had to set up the ropes and have a ladder on standby for an emergency rescue. They assisted Metro Rescue Teams who donned wetsuits and harnesses to reach the trapped individuals.
An appeal has been made to the public to stay clear of canals and waterways during wet weather conditions.
