A suspected drug dealer has been arrested in Manenberg after being found in possession of a firearm disguised as a cellphone.
The arrest was made at around 3:30 this morning during a City of Cape Town Law Enforcement operation in Pam Road.
A search of the suspect and his vehicle led to the discovery of a prohibited firearm designed to resemble a cellphone.
Law enforcement officials also confiscated three sachets of tik and half a Mandrax tablet.
The firearm is believed to fire a .22 calibre bullet. Authorities say the weapon is designed to be easily concealed and not readily recognisable as a firearm.
The case has been handed over to Manenberg SAPS for further investigation.
