The Sri Lankan presidential compound has been taken over by angry protesters who have been crushed by the country’s economic crisis.

Images of the takeover, and subsequent occupation, shows the vast inequalities in a country that citizens say has been badly managed.

Gotabaya Rajapaksa has since resigned as president after fleeing his home on Saturday.
