A security guard who was arrested for allegedly being involved in a cash-in-transit (CIT) heist at a shopping centre in Macassar is set to appear in the Somerset West Magistrate Court.
The 42-year-old SBV employee was nabbed by the Hawks after a preliminary investigation found that he allegedly communicated with one of the robbers linked to the April 29th heist.
The incident ended with a shoot-out with the police in Stellenbosch. Three suspects were arrested and their getaway vehicles recovered along with three assault rifles.
They were charged with murder, attempted murder as well as cash-in-transit robbery. The trio are expected to appear in the Stellenbosch Magistrates Court on Monday and in the Somerset West Magistrate Court on Tuesday.
