Mosiuoa Lekota says that he is willing to step aside if the party feels it is necessary.

However, he has dismissed as nonsense, the suspension issued against him by Congress of the People (COPE) deputy president, Willie Madisha.

Lekota hosted a press briefing this morning, which turned violent as members opposed to his leadership disrupted the proceedings.

They claim that he has no right to address the media as the leader of COPE, since he was suspended on Monday.

Lekota had responded to the action taken against him this week, by suspending several other members of the party.

The group that disrupted this morning’s briefing accused Lekota of hosting it under the banner of the party, when they say that he has been suspended.
