Political killings might get worse as we get closer to local government elections, according to sentiments shared by experts and criminologists.

Most recently, a potential EFF ward councillor was gunned down in Pietermaritzburg. Several others preceded this shooting, pointing to a worrying dynamic where violence is being used to resolve conflicts within parties.
