Two Golden Arrow buses have been stoned during protests in Taiwan informal settlement in Khayelitsha.

One person was injured in the stoning.

This morning’s protest on the N2 impacted traffic, and Golden Arrow diverted its JK Masemola and Mew Way routes via Swartklip Road to the R300.

Khayelitsha Development Forum chairperson Ndithini Leon Tyhido says residents of the Taiwan informal settlement had taken to the streets to demand development and services in the area.

They’ve called for the City of Cape Town to start with the Southern Corridor housing development, which includes the development of the area.

It’s been undeveloped for more than 30 years.
