In a breakthrough surgery, a 57-year-old man from Maryland, USA successfully received a genetically-modified pig heart. While the achievement is celebrated, Muslims are concerned that this may be in contravention of Islam’s laws.

The preservation of life is one of the main teachings of Islam; does it supersede the restrictions placed on use of pig products?
