Western Cape Premier Alan Winde will deliver his annual State of the Province Address (SOPA) in Veldrift this afternoon.

In keeping with the new tradition, the provincial government hosts its SOPA in different communities across the Western Cape, in a bid to bring the government closer to the people.

Winde notes that his priorities in today’s address will be guided by the ‘north star’.

“With COVID-19 now becoming endemic, we have a window of opportunity to look to the future and make the changes we need to grow the economy and help businesses create jobs while ramping up our efforts to fight crime. I will reflect on the lessons learned from the pandemic, and how we will now use them in our response to unemployment, with a specific focus on infrastructure-enabled job creation, violence prevention, and our response as a province to Gender-Based Violence,” says Winde.

The Premier will deliver his SOPA at 2pm today.
