Jacob Zuma Placed On Medical Parole

Former President Jacob Zuma has been placed on medical parole.

The Department of Correctional Services says it received Zuma’s medical report stating that the ex-statesman is terminally ill and is physically incapacitated.

An inmate is only granted medical parole if they are serving a sentence of incarceration for 24-months or less. Zuma will complete the remainder of his sentence in the system of community corrections until his sentence expires.

In July, Zuma was sentenced to 15 months in prison by the Constitutional Court for being in contempt of court after he failed to appear before the Zondo Commission of Inquiry.
