Is the ANC a liability for South Africa?

Judging from the outcomes of the ANC’s Gauteng conference this past weekend, the party’s failures to root out dubious characters is weighing on its cracking integrity.

Disgraced presidential spokesperson, Khusela Diko has been elected to the ANC’s provincial executive committee.

Journalist and author, Ryland Fisher writes that South Africans should be judged by what they have contributed to the country’s democracy. He may be referring to the ANC’s dedication to deploying struggle stalwarts to key government positions.

But his commentary highlights a country, and governing party, that is living the glory of the anti-apartheid struggle, while struggling to improve the conditions of the oppressed.
