In another big breakthrough for SAPS, 19 firearms and 1500 rounds of ammunition have been found at a house in Mitchells Plain. The discovery was made during a coordinated search and lockdown operation by police aimed at cracking down on gang violence. Western Cape Police Commissioner, Lieutenant General Thembisile Patekile, says the guns were found in gun safes and cooler boxes. While no arrests have yet been made, detectives are questioning several suspects. Mitchell Plains has been one of the areas in Cape Town which has been held hostage by intensified gang terror which has resulted in the murder and injury of several people.
