Three men have been killed, and four others injured in a suspected gang-related attack in Kalksteenfontein, Bishop Lavis.
Police spokesperson Brigadier Novela Potelwa says, based on reports, the seven men were sitting outside last night and drinking when they came under fire. Three gunmen alighted from a vehicle and started shooting randomly at the group. The deceased are 40, 64 and 66 years old.
Anti-Gang Unit detectives are investigating the mass shooting.
Potelwa says police deployments have been bolstered in the area in an effort to ensure that no further incidents occur.
The Bishop Lavis Crime Prevention Forum (BLCPF) has strongly condemned the Soetkop Street mass shooting. It notes that this attack comes on the back of a double murder that took place on Tuesday morning also in Kalksteenfontein. The forum has reiterated the call for decisive disruptive intervention from Law Enforcement to ensure law and order is restored.
