France and South Africa Seek to Deepen Ties

The Covid-19 pandemic is taking centre stage as President Cyril Ramaphosa meets with his French counterpart in Pretoria.

French President Emmanuel Macron is on an official visit which will see the two heads of state lead a High-Level Seminar on manufacturing vaccines in Africa. They will also be discussing issues related to the global response to the pandemic including economic, health, research and manufacturing.

Other issues on the agenda are the strengthening of bilateral cooperation between Pretoria and Paris, deepening an understanding on Multilateral and Global issues of mutual concern as well as trade and investment. According to the Presidency French companies pledged R20 billion in investment during the 2019 South Africa Investment Conference.
