Eight-Year-Old Boy Dies Following Tragic Drowning at Camps Bay Tidal Pool

An eight-year-old boy drowned in the Camps Bay Tidal Pool on Monday afternoon. The National Sea Rescue Institute (NSRI) says when its members arrived on the scene, they found a bystander performing CPR on the child.

It says extensive advanced life support CPR efforts were continued, but after all efforts to resuscitate the child were exhausted, sadly, he was declared deceased by paramedics.

The child had reportedly been playing in and around the pool when he was found in the water unresponsive.

He is said to have visited the pool with his family, who are believed to be from Somalia and living in Cape Town. Police have opened an inquest docket.
