Drive to halt Covid-19 trial vaccines for kids goes to ConCourt

SHARE

Citizens concerned about the administering of the Covid-19 vaccines to children have now turned to the highest court in the land – the Constitutional Court.

The Hola Bon Renaissance Foundation wants the court to halt the vaccines arguing that those between 12 and 18 are unable to give informed consent due to the complicated nature of the scientific data available.

A similar court application has been brought by the African Christian Democratic Party (ACDP) , but in a lower court.

It comes as the Covid-19 vaccines remain in the trial phase with people needing to report adverse effects. To date over 800 000 young people between 12 and 17 years of age have received the vaccine in South Africa.
