Umrah operator, Shahied Davids was arrested for the charge of theft under false pretences. He was nabbed yesterday, after arriving from Saudi Arabia.

Last year, a group of prospective pilgrims were left stranded at Cape Town International Airport after booking their Umrah with Davids. At the time he claimed that there was an issue with his ticketing supplier.

He also promised that the group would be reimbursed at the end of this month. Police spokesperson, Wesley Twigg says that the matter is being investigated by the Commercial Crimes Unit. Davids is due to appear in the Wynberg Magistrate’s Court once charged.
