‘Close personal relationship’ with Zondo, Zuma argues

Former President Jacob Zuma is basically the accused in the State Capture Commission of Inquiry. This is the argument presented by Zuma’s lawyer, Advocate Muzi Sikhakhane.

He is providing the reasons for Deputy Chief Justice, Raymond Zondo’s recusal from the Commission. Sikhakhane says that Zuma has already been deemed guilty of corruption due to media coverage of the allegations, and previous cases against the former president.

Zuma contends that he had a “close personal relationship” with Zondo since the 1990s when he had sought legal advice from his firm. He also says that their family history could further prejudice Zondo against the former president.
