City’s Traffic Fine Roadshow Rolls Into Brackenfell

The City of Cape Town is taking its popular Traffic Fine Roadshow to Brackenfell this week, giving residents an opportunity to resolve outstanding traffic fines, warrants and municipal account queries at a single service point.

The roadshow, hosted at the Brackenfell Civic Centre on the corner of Old Paarl and Paradys streets, opened on Friday for City staff and members of the public with bulk fine representations of 20 or more fines. From Saturday, 16 May until Friday, 22 May 2026, the service will be open to all members of the public. For the first time, the roadshow will also operate on a Sunday.

The initiative brings together officials from the City’s Traffic Service, Revenue Department, Municipal Courts and other departments to help residents deal with traffic-related matters more efficiently. Services available include paying outstanding traffic fines, applying for reductions on fines issued within the City’s jurisdiction, finalising warrants or summonses, removing administrative marks on the NaTIS system and enquiring about municipal accounts and rebates.

Mayoral Committee Member for Safety and Security, Alderman JP Smith, said the roadshows are aimed at making municipal services more accessible to the public.

“The roadshows bring services closer to the public and offer an alternative to the rigidity of the system that requires representations on a normal day to be made at specific courts,” Smith said.

Residents are encouraged to arrive early, as the service operates on a first-come, first-served basis. According to the City’s FAQ document, only the first 280 people in the queue will be assisted daily, while those not attended to will receive tickets granting them priority access the following day.

The City said previous roadshows have drawn large crowds. During the recent Athlone roadshow, more than 3 600 residents were assisted, with reductions and settlements amounting to nearly R16 million in traffic fines and warrants.

Operations at the Brackenfell roadshow begin daily at 08:30, with closing times dependent on demand and the organisers’ capacity to assist everyone in the queue. Payment options include both cash and card facilities.
