The City of Cape Town says it is attending to a high volume of electricity fault reports linked to the Mother City’s inclement weather.

With winter arriving, Cape Town residents have been experiencing cold, wet and windy conditions with another cold front soon on its way. The City has warned that the upcoming weather conditions may impact on electricity service requests.

This comes as South Africans are also having to battle load shedding during the cold winter months. The city says load shedding has also contributed to the number of service requests due to nuisance tripping, among others, when the lights are switched back on.

The city has encouraged residents to use the correct service channels to report outages via SMS and email.

For City of Cape Town service requests:

  • Call Centre: 0860 103 089
  • SMS: 31220 (Free SMS service does not apply)
  • Email: [email protected]
