At least two municipal workers have been robbed at gun point in Philippi East.

All their belongings including cellphones, and wallets were taken. The bakkie they were travelling in was also stolen.

The workers are stationed at the City of Cape Town’s sewer depot.

Mayoral committee member for Water and Waste, Councillor Zahid Badroodien says the staff are traumatised adding that the same team was held up by six armed men a few months ago in the same area.

He has urged community members to stand up and report those criminals who prevent City officials from carrying out services.
