Test train trips will be conducted on certain parts of the Central Line tomorrow.

The Passenger Rail Agency of South Africa (Prasa) says that this will determine whether the line can provide services to the public.

The Central Line has been closed since 2019 due to vandalism and theft.

It provides a cheaper and quick route for residents of Khayelitsha and Mitchells Plain.

Prasa says that the Cape Town to Langa via Pinelands and Langa to Bellville via Sarepta routes will be reopened tomorrow.

Prasa also promised increased security at train stations for the safety of commuters and their staff.
