Failed Coup in Sudan

There has reportedly been an attempted coup in Sudan.

Providing little detail Sudan’s state media called on citizens to counter the attempted seizure of power. It’s understood that a group of soldiers who have reportedly been arrested were behind the failed attempt.

In a social media post on Facebook Mohamed Al Faki Suleiman, a member of the ruling military-civilian council says that all is under control and the revolution is victorious. He says the interrogation of the suspects is set to begin and the military would issue a statement shortly.

Sudan has had tough time transitioning to civilian rule since the military staged a coup in April 2019. It ousted longtime President Omar al-Bashir. The North African country is ruled by a joint civilian and military government that faces economic and security challenges.
