ANC President Cyril Ramaphosa has questioned the party’s waning support in the Western Cape, asking, “Why have we kept on losing so much support?”
Speaking in Mbekweni near Paarl, Ramaphosa addressed ANC members, urging the party to reconnect with communities ahead of next year’s local elections.
The ANC has seen a steady decline in the DA stronghold, dropping to just over 20% in the 2021 municipal vote. Ramaphosa emphasized the need for grassroots engagement and rebuilding trust in the region. He reminded members of the ANC’s historic role in shaping South Africa’s democracy.
Several top ANC leaders, including Fikile Mbalula, were deployed across the province in a show of unity.
