The State is likely to oppose bail when the five men accused of being involved in the recent spate of truck attacks make their second appearance in a Mpumalanga Court next week.

The case was postponed to next Thursday for a formal bail application.

Court records reveal that three of the suspects come from KwaZulu-Natal.

Police Minister Bheki Cele has said in the past that the instigators of the truck attacks are from northern KZN.

The men face charges of attempted murder, aggravated robbery, malicious damage to property, conspiracy to commit a crime and illegal possession of a firearm.

In less than week more than 20 trucks were set alight in parts of the country. The motive for the attacks is still being investigated.
