The first US warship that is permanently assigned to the US Africa Command(Africom) Area has arrived in Cape Town.
The scheduled port visit is to promote the strengthening of security ties. The USS Hershel “Woody” Williams will be used as a mobile sea base for a broad range of military operations. The visit includes engagement opportunities with the South African government and military leaders.
