Members of the organisation issued a stern warning to gangsters, declaring: “We will not tolerate you anymore. This is your final warning.”
The demonstration comes amid growing concerns over ongoing gang violence, reportedly linked to a turf war between the Junky Funky Kids (JFK) and Fancy Boys gangs.
The latest shooting incidents have left residents shaken, with the most recent attack occurring in Voel Street on Saturday night, where a 65-year-old woman and an adult male were shot and killed.
The violence follows another fatal shooting on Tuesday, when a 31-year-old man was shot and killed in his vehicle outside Heatherdale Primary School on Belgravia Road, shortly after dropping off his child.
According to reports, three men approached the victim and opened fire before fleeing the scene in an unknown vehicle. The victim is understood to have been a member of the JFK gang.
PAGAD’s march through Belgravia was aimed at sending a clear message to those involved in gangsterism, as the organisation called for an end to the violence affecting the community.
The latest incidents have renewed concerns about the safety of residents, particularly as shootings continue to occur in residential areas and near places frequented by families and children.
PAGAD’s warning comes as residents grapple with the impact of gang-related violence and calls for greater safety in communities across the Cape Flats.
