Three Suspects Arrested in Separate Firearm Incidents Across Cape Town

Police have arrested three suspects in separate firearm-related incidents across Cape Town. Members of the Crime Prevention Unit acted on information about suspects linked to robberies and drug dealing in Bardale informal settlement. Officers spotted a 17-year-old suspect who matched the description, and he fled when approached by police.

After a foot chase, police arrested him and found a 9mm pistol with ammunition in his possession. He faces charges of illegal possession of a firearm and ammunition and is expected to appear in the Blue Downs Magistrates’ Court.

In a separate incident in Hanover Park, Anti-Gang Unit members arrested a 25-year-old suspect after he attempted to evade police during patrols. The suspect was found with a 9mm pistol and 14 rounds of ammunition and will appear in the Athlone Magistrates’ Court once charged.

Meanwhile, Mfuleni Crime Prevention Unit members arrested two suspects during an operation on 16 September 2026. The 22 and 23-year-old suspects were found in possession of a 9mm pistol and ten rounds of ammunition. Both are facing firearm and ammunition possession charges.
