Pakistan delivers US message as Trump signals defeat and end to war

Pakistan’s army chief, General Asim Munir, has arrived in Iran, and received by Foreign Minister, Seyed Abbas Araghchi. According to the Tasnim News Agency, the Pakistani political-security delegation is carrying a message from the United States.
Meanwhile, Iranian state television, citing sources in Pakistan, reported that the delegation is expected to discuss upcoming negotiations with Iranian officials.
Pakistan has been mediating the talks between the US and Iran, in an attempt to end the American-Israeli war on the Islamic Republic. Talks have stalled over the weekend, with delegations returning home.

The Pakistani Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi is also in the Iranian capital “as part of the ongoing mediation efforts”.

It is understood that the sides had kept talking via Pakistan after a first round of talks in the Pakistani capital Islamabad fell flat over the weekend.

US President Donald Trump has been claiming that the world is in for an “amazing two days” as the American-Israeli war with Iran may come to an end.

The fragile two-week ceasefire remains in place in the meantime and is set to expire on April 22.

The end of the war appears to be conditional to three main sticking points that derailed direct talks last weekend, namely Iran’s right to its nuclear program, the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz and reperations for Iran’s wartime damages.

Iran has stood firm that it will not be bullied by the US and Israelis, and will defend its sovereignty.
