A City of Cape Town firefighter has delivered heroics both on and off duty.

Firdous Seat helped bring her nephew into the world this week. She was alerted in the early hours of yesterday morning that loved one was in labour.

With no transport available to get her to hospital, Seat rushed to their Maitland home. She intended to drive them to hospital and called emergency services. But on arrival, the mother to be was ready to give birth.

Seat stepped in, and delivered a healthy baby boy. Firefighters from Salt River Station arrived soon after to assist. Mother and child were then escorted safely to Mowbray Maternity Hospital.
