Russian and Ukrainian forces are clashing Kiev, with a US official confirming that Washington has offered to evacuate President Volodymyr Zelensky from the capital.

The clashes are in their third day, and France is already warning of a long war.

France, the US, NATO, and other Western powers have sent weapons to Ukraine to bolster its military against Russia.

President Zelensky has pledged to fight on despite having agreed to hold talks with Moscow.

Russian President Vladimir Putin announced on Thursday a “special military operation” in Ukraine’s Donbas region to “defend people” subjected to “genocide” there against government forces.

Lebanese resistance movement, Hezbollah has weighed in on the fighting gripping Russia and Ukraine.

Head of the Hezbollah Executive Council Sayyed Hashem Safieddine says that the ongoing crisis is an example of Washington’s habit of betraying and abandoning its allies.

He says that the United States and some European countries initially provoked Ukraine, but later withdrew their support and the Kiev movement is confronting the Russian military campaign alone.

This sentiment was shared by journalist, author, and commentator John Wight. He however noted that Ukrainian President Zelensky is also to blame for violence hitting his country.
