36-year-old shooter arrested in Hanover Park

A 36-year-old man has been arrested for attempted murder in Hanover Park.

Metro police spokesperson, Ruth Solomons says officers came across an active shooting and pursued the suspect who was on foot. He allegedly fired shots at the officers.

A 9mm pistol with ten live rounds of ammunition was confiscated. The suspect faces charges of discharging a firearm in a municipal area, the possession of an unlicensed firearm, and illegal possession of ammunition.

Hanover Park is one of the areas that is affected by gangsterism on the Cape Flats and the sound of gunfire is an almost a daily feature.
