‘2022 School Admissions Still Has A Long Way To Go’ – WCED

The Western Cape Education Department (WCED) has appealed to parents to remain calm if they haven’t received an offer from a school they applied to for their child or children.

It comes as some parents are worried that their child won’t be placed at a school due to no response from the WCED. Education MEC Debbie Schafer says the department is only in its first round of offers. Schafer assured parents if they haven’t received any offer from a school they applied to, it doesn’t mean that their child won’t be placed.

Parents who have received offers have until 25 June 2021 to confirm their final choice of school for 2022. More than 20 000 learners have been accepted to more than one school. But over 20 000 places will only be available to learners who were unsuccessful at a particular school.
