1982 Sabra and Shatila Massacre: Israel no Longer Invincible

SHARE

It’s 39 years since the Sabra and Shatila massacre in which over a period of three days in 1982, under the orders of the Israeli military. some 3 500 Palestinians were butchered.

The attack on September 16, was authorised by then Israeli head of defence, Ariel Sharon, who later became the Zionist regime’s prime minister.

The camps were sealed off by the Israeli tanks, allowing members of the Kataeb militia to enter and massacre the Palestinians that had been driven from their homes since 1948.

The Israelis claimed that the incursion was meant to rout out members of the Palestinian Liberation Organisation, however it was women and children that were massacred.

As we reflect on this dark part of history, justice remains a mere hope for the families of the Sabra and Shatila massacre victims.
