ANC delegates of the Economic Transformation Commission have called for youth unemployment to be declared a national crisis.
They held a separate media briefing at Nasrec in Johannesburg to respond to some of the engagements at the ANC’s national policy conference.
Youth unemployment in South Africa is shy above 60 percent. Chairperson of the Economic Transformation Commission Mmamoloko Kubayi says there is a common theme around concerns of unemployment, especially for youth.
She adds that it cannot continue like this, and that the ruling party needs to put mechanisms in place to adequately respond to the crisis.
