The Western Cape’s push towards varied sources of electricity and energy have been outlined by Premier Alan Winde.

He has concluded his State of the Province Address, which was hosted in Velddrif.

Winde has highlighted how policies and infrastructure set up by national government and Eskom can benefit the Western Cape economy.

He says that the use of Liquid Natural Gas (LNG) at the Ankerlig power station could prove beneficial for these production plants in Saldanha Bay.

Winde was speaking as load shedding has contributed to the financial woes of local industry and economies.

He says that investment in LNG production is one way of creating more jobs.

Winde says that province is also diversifying its energy sources.

The Western Cape is looking into five projects based on Solar PV and wind energy.

He says that outlines of these projects are in development, which consulted on the technical, financial and legal aspects of this energy production.
