The Western Cape Blood Service is experiencing a critical shortage of type O blood.

Spokesperson for the blood service Marike Gevers says there is a two-day supply for the O+ blood type and one day’s supply for the O- blood type.

The provincial blood service has appealed to those who live healthy lifestyles, weigh more than 50KG, and are 16 years and older to donate blood.
