A cabinet shake up appears to be on the cards for the Western Cape.

In a brief statement Premier Alan Winde indicates that he will announce tomorrow what he calls exciting new changes to his provincial cabinet.

He believes the changes will give life to commitments made in his State of the Province Address (SOPA). These include the creation of a new department for infrastructure and for mobility.

The statement comes shortly after it was announced that Provincial Education MEC Debbie Schäfer will vacate her post on May 15th. She tendered her resignation as she has opted for a job in the legal sector in the UK.

The position Community Safety MEC is also open following the axing of Albert Fritz in the wake of allegations of sexual misconduct.
