The group evaluates whether public and private schools are ready to handle the large number of pupils expected to write their final papers.

Now with online teaching and learning taking place more often, Umalusi’s CEO Mafu Rakometsi has called for more to be done to ensure that the relevant regulations apply for these students as well.

He says that Umalusi is working the Basic Education Department to finalise policy to make sure that the online space is regulated.

More than 958 000 pupils will write their final exams in public schools.
