There have been shifts in the Western Cape cabinet.

The provincial legislatures Reagan Allen and Mireille Wenger have been brought in. Allen will immediately serve as MEC for Police Oversight and Community Safety while Wenger will take up the position of MEC of Finance and Economic Opportunities on May 15. David Maynier will replace Education MEC Debbie Schafer who leaves in mid-May.

Premier Alan Winde has created the Department of Infrastructure which will be headed by MEC Tertuis Simmers. It will consist of the Department of Human Settlements, and components of the Department of Transport and Public Works.

MEC Daylin Mitchell will lead the newly established Mobility Department. Winde says it will tackle the challenge of a failing transport system.
