A 30-year-old man has been arrested for attempted murder in Wesbank near Mfuleni. He was detained during a raid on a house after police officers embarked on a search for those behind an attack on cops patrolling in the area.

A 25-year-old woman was also nabbed at the residence.

Officers found more than 80 mandrax tablets inside a cupboard, a black plastic bag containing a range of ammunition, cash, and under the bed and carpet they found a black pistol with ammunition.

The woman faces charges of dealing in drugs and possession of ammunition, while the man faces charges of possession of an illegal firearm and attempted murder.
