An estimated R12 million worth of drugs has been seized on the N12 in Springs, Gauteng.

The Trilateral Planning Cell (TPC) made the bust following information that a suspect was travelling with a stash of heroin and tik from Mozambique in a white Ford Ranger. A stop and search led to drugs being found sealed in plastic containers in a hidden compartment in the vehicle.

A 37-year-old man was arrested. He is expected to appear in the Springs Magistrate’s Court on a charge of dealing in drugs.

The TPC is made up of organized crime police officers from Mozambique, Tanzania and South Africa. Its unified objective is to disrupt the smuggling of drugs as well as organised crime networks operating on the maritime western coast of the Indian Ocean.
