Transnet workers affiliated with the United National Transport Union (UNTU) are willing to accept the CCMA’s proposed six percent wage offer providing that their jobs are guaranteed.

Over the last week, unions have embarked on an industrial strike action calling for a wage increase that matches the high cost of living.

The CCMA served as a mediator between the parastatal and disgruntled unions. UNTU spokesperson Dan Khumalo says the union doesn’t have an issue with the CCMA’s proposal.

He adds that workers are comfortable with the offer despite it not being what they wanted.
