Those who do not qualify for the Social Relief of Distress (SRD) grant should not apply.

Social Development Minister Lindiwe Zulu says that this will hinder the process and rob those who need the R350 support.

The Minister has briefed the public on the reinstatement of the SRD grant, which was announced by President Cyril Ramaphosa last month.

The Minister has sought to allay the concerns that the issues that plagued the disbursement of the grant last year had not been addressed.

She says that those who had still not received their grants last year will receive their money.

This as over 571 000 grants had not been collected from last year.

Millions of South Africans have become dependent on this cash injection as their livelihoods have been affected by the pandemic.
